Dr. Kent Fuchs, Dean, College of Engineering

Mott House, 203 Wyckoff Ave.

This week, as part of our Friday Conversations series, we will be hosting College of Engineering Dean Kent Fuchs.

Dean Fuchs, in addition to a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, has an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Diviniy School.

A few years ago Science & Theology News interviewed Fuchs about his faith.

“My personal faith in God allows me not so much to focus on my own career, my own aspirations, but really to help other people,” said Fuchs. “The specific profession I’m in, the discipline of engineering, is a great opportunity to express your faith by the nature of innovation and the area of applications of discoveries that you make in your research."

“The focus on application is a focus that helps people, for the good of society. It gives you a way of expressing your desire to help other people, which I think is an expression of my faith in God.”

Friday conversations are free and open to all members of the Cornell community.
