Robert Purcell Community TV Lounge 101

As we begin another school year, how do we make the most of it? What role does Christian faith play in guiding our choices in and out of the classroom? Is there a basis for bringing together studies and the Christian life? Dr. Ryan O'Dowd will begin to help us biblically answer some of these questions and more as kick off the academic year of 2010-11. Join us for discussion and pizza.

Ryan O'Dowd is Senior Visiting Lecturer of Aerospace Studies at Cornell University. He has also taught in the areas of Biblical Studies and social justice at Briercrest College and Redeemer University College as well as serving as Adjunct Faculty at the Paideia Centre for Public Theology. His books include The Wisdom of Torah: Epistemology in Deuteronomy and the Wisdom Literature (Vandenhoeck and Ruprecht, 2009) and, with Craig Bartholomew, Old Testament Wisdom Literature: A Theological Introduction (InterVarsity, Forthcoming). He and his family live in Ithaca, NY.

Friday Conversations is a relaxed venue to watch films on various topics, hear professors reflect on their vocation, and discuss the implications of Christian faith for all aspects of life and learning. Pizza at 6.
