What Every Orphan Needs to Know

“I will not leave you orphaned.” Jesus

Everyone is orphaned, if not literally, than metaphorically, by the pain, loss and sometimes by the devastations of life. The fear or reality of being alone needs the fulfillment of Christ’s promise that he will come to us and be with us. He brings us into the eternal family of the Trinity where Father, Son and Spirit are present with each other in conversation, love and great happiness.

 

 

The annual Institute of Biblical Studies, sponsored by Chesterton House, Bethel Grove Bible Church, and New Life Presbyterian Church, is designed to teach from the Scriptures, challenging participants to deepen their knowledge and understanding of God’s Word. Past speakers have included Dr. D.A. Carson, Dr. Walter Kaiser, Dr. Roger Nicole, and Dr. Richard Pratt.

 

Face2Face Improv presents an evening of comedy and improvisational theater:

Face2Face, recently invited to perform with the Improv Olympics, a feature production of Second City Chicago, comes to Ithaca to perform as part of the annual Institute of Biblical Studies sponsored by New Life Presbyterian Church, Bethel Grove Bible Church and Chesterton House Center for Christian Studies at Cornell.

We live in a wildly pluralistic world, and the growing diversity shows no sign of slowing down. As a result, Christians increasingly finding themselves living among people, as neighbors, colleagues and co-workers, who do not share their deepest convictions and values. Many believers feel uneasy in such a setting, with a tendency to feel defensive and perhaps even withdraw into their own subculture. This need not be.

Some of us will be driving down to the Coalition for Christian Outreach's Jubliee conference. Great speakers, great event--give it a look. Conference runs Friday to Sunday.
